A. Induction Programmes
An Induction programme is one of those occasions, when staff and students come together. It is confidence building measure and fosters familiarity. The induction programme is a part of Academic calendar and is an institutional event. All concerned teaching and non-teaching staff participate in it and have their roles specified. KCE follows a well thought out mode of induction & it takes place before commencement of Academic activity as under:-
Inductory Session :- The freshers are oriented to the institution and the programme. The orientation incorporates all aspects viz -
Introduction of staff and students. Information about the college
Rules of conduct Attendance rules
Library rules Hostel Rules etc.
Introduction of Syllabi Discussion on proposed Annual Calendar
B. Orientation about qualitative assignment writing
Orientation about qualitative assignment writing is conducted to ensure quality in the context of the assignment and its submission. The Assignments are given to the students to ensure equal distribution of concerned material in the Library.
According to an old chinese proverb "One seeing is worth a hundred telling."
As senses are the gateways of learning. It is essential that we should provide our students with as many of the sensory experiences as possible, both inside the classroom and outside.
Audio-Visual Aid is "Any device which by sight or sound increases the individual's experience beyond that acquired through reading."
They concretize the knowledge to be presented and thus help in making a learning experience appear real, living and vital. Audio-Visual aids furnish experiences, thus facilitate the association of objects and works. They constitute one of the royal roads to learning. Audio visual aids are charts, graphs, models, black-boards, slides. pictures, T.V., globe, OHP etc.
In this training programme, pupil-teachers are trained for preparation and effective use of A.V aids after careful consideration.
C. Exhibition of Teaching Aids
The teacher-trainees are given the practice of preparing different teaching aids related to the school teaching subjects offered by them. These aids are prepared for all twenty lessons to be delivered. There after an exhibition is held and charts, models and other teaching aids prepared by the students are displayed for awards of marks by a committee awarded of Principal, and two lecturers.
Each aid prepared by the trainees bears their Roll No & Marks are awarded by the committee out of 10.
Students are trained to write and present their answers effectively in term tests (T1 & T2) and final examination.
E. Micro Teaching Orientation Programme
It is technique or design that is used for training the pupil teachers to make them learn the art of teaching.
It is micro or miniaturised teaching in the sense that it scales down the complexities of real teaching with the provision like those given below :
Practicing one skill at a time.
• Reducing the class size to 5-10 pupils.
• Reducing the duration of the lesson to 5-6 minutes.
• Limiting the context to a single concept.
• Immediate feed back for further improvement.
In view of this, a standard procedure of Micro-teaching is conducted in a teacher training course in the following manner:-

1. Orientation:
In the beginning, the student teachers are given necessary theoretical background about Micro-teaching by having a free and fair discussion of aspects like those given below:-
• Concept of Micro teaching.
• Procedure of Micro teaching.

2. Presentation of a model Lesson:
Here a demonstration or model lesson for the use of the selected skill is presented before the trainees as -
• By providing written material such as hand books, guides, videotapes.
• By exhibiting a film or a DVD.
• By arranging a demonstration from a teacher educator.

3. Macro Teaching Orientation Programme:
Macro-teaching is real class room encounter in which pupil teachers are trained to handle real class room situation. Before commencement of Macro teaching, workshops on most important areas of the teaching are organized. In these workshops students are guided to plan their lesson using RCEM Approach, as planning helps in the successful completion of any human activity. Teaching is one such important activity where detailed thinking and planning can result in effective learning by students.
Proper guidance and orientation is given to the students before commencement of the Macro teaching in the following areas :
Delivery of Macro Lessons
Twenty Macro Lessons are delivered by each teacher trainee in actual classroom situation under the supervision of a college teacher.
Internship Programme
B.Ed course is a professional course in which emphasis is laid on the practical experiences. Internship and co-curricular activities are integral part of syllabus for B.Ed course. It is compulsory for every teacher-trainee to undergo the Internship programme comprising of following items, carrying 30 marks in the school where practice of teaching is conducted under the supervision of the supervisor :
• Conduct of Morning Assembly
• Preparation of Time-Table
• Organising Co-curricular Activities
• Checking Home-work
• Maintaining Attendance Register
• Writing letters to parents & preparing notices
• Participation in staff meetings
• Maintenance of school records
• Preparation of examination papers
• Experience Report
• Resignation Letter
• Knowledge of preparing school leaving certificate
• Writing a report on at least three lessons delivered by regular teachers of the school.
The above programme is taken up by each teacher trainee during the Macro Practice of teaching phase.
Criticism Lesson
Two criticism lessons, one in each teaching subject opted by the candidate, are delivered. It is a type of feed back session in which performance of pupil teacher during Macro-teaching is discussed and their Supervisors give valuable suggestions, so that total quality is attained.
Orientation for Final Lessons
Final practice for teaching carries 150 marks in which two external examiners are appointed for observing two lessons of each student in the two opted teaching subjects in actual classroom situations. Before commencement of final practice of teaching, pupil-teachers are oriented about it. The following aspects are taken into consideration -
• Preparation of lesson-plans
• Preparation of Instructional aids
• Delivery of the Lesson
• Presentation
• Confidence
• Understanding
• Chalk Board writing
• Relevance & use of Instructional aids at the appropriate time
• Closing of the Lesson
